PARTIAL LISTING: Historic Three Piece Rosewood c.1840 Bedroom Suite; Attributed to Thomas Day with Carved Hanging Headboard Four Poster Bed, Impressive Rosewood Mirrored Wardrobe Signed G. Williamson and Handsome Rosewood Five Drawer (one hidden) Dresser with Hanging Mirror; a wedding gift for Reverend Lewis Skidmore’s daughter Margaret Skidmore Proctor and her husband Dr. Thomas Albert Proctor. While residing in Petersburg during the Civil War, the family’s home was attacked during the Battle of Petersburg. Their infant child lay in a cradle by the wardrobe when it was hit. Shrapnel still remains in the wood. Mrs. Proctor immediately moved back to her home place, Locust Grove Plantation located in Charlotte County. They had eight children total.
